My Favorite Cash Back App: Rakuten

I don’t know about you, but I am an online shopper. I buy clothes, food, homegoods, and all my self care items online. I know….such a millennial right?

Because I prefer to shop online I like to take advantage of online coupons and cashback promotions. My preferred method of getting online coupons and cash back is Rakuten.

Rakuten is website that searches the internet for discount codes (so I don’t have to) and Rakuten also gives me cash back when I click the referral links available on their website. It’s basically a two in one. The coupon codes are automatically applied and Rakuten tries all available codes to find the best deal. Then Rakuten gives me cash for any purchases I make because they split the retailer kick back for “referring me” to the website to shop.  Basically Rakuten gives me part of the money they earn by sending shoppers to websites.

Rakuten has links to pretty much every store I shop at including clothing stores, automotive stores, travel websites, and everything in between.

I get my cash back four times a year.

Right now my cash back check that will be coming in August 2024 is $304.93.

Literally being paid for things I would have bought anyway! And all I did was use Rakuten to refer me to all the stores I normally shop at.

I’ve used Rakuten for years (since 2012, crazy right) because it is literally so easy and worth the extra mouse click to get money back.

It’s great!

Tips for Using Rakuten

#1 Install the Rakuten Extension

If you install the Rakuten extension on your browser the links for cash back will pop up automatically when you go to stores where a Rakuten cash back option is available. The quick links look like this:

Just click on “Activate” and the link will automatically generate for your referral to get cash back.

#2 Install the app on your phone

Just like installing the browser extension the app on your phone is the quickest way to get links when you pull up a store you already shop at on your phone.

#3 Watch for the referral percentage to change

Sometimes my favorite stores are offering 2% cash back, but this is not a fixed amount. My favorite clothing store Lane Bryant has often goes up to 10% cash back depending on the day of the week and the time of year.

Oftentimes I will go online, fill up my cart and wait to purchase until my cash back percentage is higher. Probably won’t work at all stores, but definitely the case for all the clothing retailers that I use. So I do this whenever I am not in a hurry to get something.

Hope that these tips help you make the most of your Rakuten cash back rewards!

We appreciate when you use our links because we get a bonus for referring you. This doesn’t change anything for you, but it helps to support Twin Looking Sisters.
